FAQ

  • Is there Wi-Fi available?
Yes, we provide Wi-Fi access, though we encourage guests to disconnect as much as possible to fully immerse in the retreat experience.
  • Can I bring my pet?
If your airline carrier allows pets and you feel comfortable travelling a longer distance with your pet, you may bring your pet. We advise you look into any quarantine or vaccination requirements your pet may have when entering the country. Due to unknown allergies and preferences of other guests, your pet may be required to stay in your room for the duration of the retreat. For the most worry-free experience, we do recommend leaving your pet at home.

You are always more than welcome to arrange your own transportation. Simply let us know and we will see what we can do. Only two rides are included in the cost of the retreat (to/from the retreat center), unless the retreat includes group tours to nearby towns.

If we plan to go out and eat as a group, this is also included in the price of the retreat. You are always more than welcome to bring your own snacks or shop for your own groceries (at your own expense). • Can I skip any plants/ceremonies?
Yes, you can skip any ceremony you'd like and you might even have the opportunity to experience other plants depending on what our Taita has available at that time. Due to the way our retreats are structured and how our facilitators are compensated, we unfortunately can't reimburse for anything that is included in the retreat, but we might be able to accommodate an exchange for a different service.
  • Who is facilitating the retreats?
We have a number of different facilitators for our retreats. Facilitators may also change depending on the retreat. You will always know who is leading the retreats on the retreat's event page. You can learn more about our teachers here.
  • What kind of plants do you work with?
We work with a number of indigenous plants and brews made locally. Read each retreat description to see which plants will be offered during ceremony.
  • How will I feel during/after ceremony?
Every ceremony is different. During ceremony, you may feel physical or emotional discomfort. Our medicinal plants have a very cleansing and purging type of effect - nausea, upset stomach, puking, and bowel movements are all common. Some people might interpret these healing experiences as a "negative experience". You might fall asleep, stay awake, have some visuals, or you may not at all. Sometimes you might feel completely fine and not have a physical purge at all. Rollercoasters of emotions are common as we work through different thoughts, traumas, and perspectives. Laughing, crying, screaming, and sleeping are all normal experiences. We encourage coming with intention, not expectation. The following morning, you should feel fine - no "hangover" of any sort. On the contrary, you should feel alive, energized, and rejuvenated.
  • Can I attend the retreat if I’m not interested in plant medicine?
Absolutely. We offer alternative retreats focusing on detoxification and rejuvenation without plant medicine.

Ear plugs: Some may be sensitive to sounds, noises, or live music. If you think this might be you, we recommend bringing ear plugs. Journal and Pen: For reflection and noting down experiences during the retreat. Pillow/Blanket: We will provide plenty of pillows and blankets, but if you have a favorite pillow or blanket you can't sleep without, feel free to bring your own. Flights to Colombia are fairly affordable during off-season, with round-trip flights averaging about $400-$600. We tried to schedule retreats during off-season to make this experience as affordable as possible.
  • Airline Recommendations and Connecting Flights
We have had great success flying with Colombia airline Copa We recommend connecting through Panama, as your luggage will transfer over directly with Copa. If connecting through Mexico, Florida, or any other domestic connections, we recommend booking a flight that has a minimum of a 3hr connection time. This will allow you enough time to pick up your luggage, check it back in, and go through security again at your connecting airport. If your connection is outside of your departing country, your luggage is usually transferred over automatically by your airline. If your connection is domestic, you will likely have to pick up your luggage at your connecting airport and check it back in again. We highly advise that when checking in at your departure city, to ask the airline agents if your luggage will be transferred automatically or if you will have to pick it up at your connection and check it back in again. You will need a minimum of 2 hours for this process and we recommend booking a flight that allows 3+hrs between your connecting flights if not connecting through Panama. If connecting via Panama with Copa, you can do a short layover connection since the luggage is automatically transferred over.
  • Is airfare included?
Airfare is the only thing that is not included in the price of the retreat. You will be responsible for booking your own flight. Feel free to reach out to us if you need any recommendations or have any questions regarding airlines, layovers, etc.
  • Which airport should I flight into?
Please fly into MDE (Jose Maria Cordova International Airport in Rionegro). This is the only airport location included in the cost of the retreat for transportation.
